DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Police in DeKalb County are trying to track down burglars who broke into an audio store on the Northeast Expressway in an unusual way.

Officials said thieves managed to circumvent security measures to slip in and out of the store with expensive recording equipment. The thieves left a hole in the Atlanta Pro Audio store's rear wall.

Police said the thieves used a chisel and a sledgehammer to smash in the back wall and break into the store.

The veteran small business owner, Chick Cusick, said apparently the economy is causing a spike in these types of crimes. He said burglars have targeted his store six times in the past year.

"They used to come in through the front of the store but we put steel curtains up to stop that and now they've found another way in. You can't stop them," said Cusick.

Cusick said he won't know exactly what the thieves got away with until he does an inventory later Wednesday.
