Detectives said that William Morse, 38, is the man on a security video tossing a cat about 20-feet into the air during a burglary at the Georgia Forestry Commission in McDonough.

Police arrested Morse Jan. 2 during a search of his home at 2044 Keys Ferry Road. Officers said they found a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamines and a .22 caliber rifle at the home.

Morse was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, burglary and cruelty to animals.

The video from the October robbery shows the man inside the forestry shed as he is greeted by the forestry cat, "Wildfire," an orange and white tabby, police said.

The man reaches down, grabs the cat behind its neck, takes it outside, and slings it 20 to 30 feet in the air. Police said the cat hit the roof before falling back to the concrete. The cat landed on its back and fled.

The cat is now OK.
