The Troup County Sheriff's Office said a former cheerleading coach has been arrested on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a young teenage boy.

Investigators charged Elizabeth Gaddy, 45, a current teacher at Callaway Middle School in Hogansville, with child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Gaddy is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old male student. Police said Gaddy had been having sexual contact with him for several months.

Sgt. Kelli Ellington said some of the alleged behavior occurred at Gaddy's home in Hogansville and also on dirt roads in Troup County. Ellington said none of the alleged behavior occurred on school grounds.

Gaddy was already on administrative leave because of a previous investigation into allegations of inappropriate contact with students.

Ellington said parents of cheerleaders complained about inappropriate close relationships between Gaddy and cheerleaders. "(The parents said) she was too close to them. (She was) writing them notes, text messaging them on certain occasions," said Ellington.

"The information that we received from concerned parents and the investigation that was ongoing at the school involved allegations of professional misconduct, but it was actually the Troup County Sheriff's Department who uncovered the sexual misconduct allegations," said Ellington.

Gaddy is being held in the Troup County Jail.
