Father, Son Charged With Robbing South Georgia Store

Police have charged a father and his 26-year-old son with holding up a convenience store.

Glynn County police Capt. Marissa Tindale said Cecil Ray Gordon, 43, of Waynesville and his son, Jason Michael Hanson of Brunswick, were arrested after the Monday night incident on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges. Hanson has also been charged with interference with government property for repeatedly kicking the police vehicle.

The clerk at the Friendly Express in Brunswick told police that a man entered the store and demanded money while holding a concealed object in a sock. Police say the robber hit the clerk over the head, took the money and left the store.

The 44-year-old clerk suffered a head wound and was treated at the scene by county emergency medical personnel, police Capt. Marissa Tindale said.

Police arrested the father and son a few minutes later driving along a nearby road.

According to Georgia Department of Corrections records, Gordon has served time for forgery, possession of cocaine, burglary, theft and habitual traffic law violations.
