Missing Georgia Woman Found In Florida Says She Was Kidnapped

Posted: 3:40 pm EST December 2, 2008

Police said a Georgia woman who had been missing for six days was found alive in Florida.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Christy Jackson contacted law enforcement officials in Hamilton County, Fla. Monday night and said she had been kidnapped from Lee County, Ga. and had escaped her captors.

Jackson was talking on her cell phone to a relative on Nov. 26 when the relative heard the phone go dead. The relative told officials that just before the line went dead, Jackson told her a man was standing outside her house.

Jackson is being treated for minor injuries. GBI officials said they are working to obtain information about Jackson's whereabouts for the past six days.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information concerning this investigation is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriffs Office at 229-759-6012 or the GBI Tip Line at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).
