Coach, Replacement Both Fired For Alleged Relationships With Students

ROME, Ga. -- Two teacher/coaches at the same high school were fired this week following allegations of inappropriate relationships with students.The Floyd County Board of Education fired Matthew Blanton, the head basketball coach at Model High School in Rome, on Monday.
Coach, Asst. Coach Both Fired For Alleged Relationships With StudentsDaniel Brown, an assistant coach was named as Blanton's replacement, but the Board fired Brown on Tuesday.The allegations against the two men were turned over to police and the Department of Family and Children Services."We have great teachers in this school system who value our students," said Lynn Plunkett, Floyd County School Superintendent in a release. "We have no place in Floyd County schools for those who do not share our commitment."
