Clerk Shot, Killed At Walton County Gas Station

MONROE, Ga. -- Authorities in Walton County are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting at a Walton County gas station that left a male store clerk dead.

Walton police said a lone gunman walked into Matt's Food Mart located in the 400 block of North Broad Street in Monroe.

Authorities said the gunman got into some type of altercation with the store clerk and shot him several times.

Investigators said they have a suspect in custody.

Members of the Walton County Police Department, Walton County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are working the case.

Authorities said this is the first homicide in Walton County this year.
