Man, Woman Killed In Clayton County Townhouse Fire

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Clayton County police said a man and a woman were killed in a townhouse fire Tuesday afternoon.Clayton County fire officials were called to the scene of a townhouse fire on Windwood Road just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.Neighbor Adrian Davis told Channel 2 he saw the house on fire as he walked his dog and he could see the man yelling from an upstairs window.

"He was on the upstairs window and he was like, 'Dre, dre, help me, help me,' And I said, 'Get out,'" said Davis.Davis couldn’t get too close because of the flames. He said he ran around to the back of the house to see if he could get in that way, but there was too much smoke. When he ran back up to the front of the house, the homeowner had jumped from the second story window."We got buckets of water and we tried to save him. But it was just too much,” said neighbor Demetrice Graham."To his family, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry," said Davis.SLIDESHOW: Clayton County Townhouse Fire Scene
The victims’ names have not yet been released.Davis was slightly injured trying to save the homeowners. He is expected to be OK.The fire chief said the men who attempted the rescue were very courageous even if they were sadly unsuccessful. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
