Monday, October 6, 2008 – updated: 11:17 pm EDT October 6, 2008

The child's teen mother abducted him from a babysitter, according to Marietta police officials.

Carla Martin, 16, took Michael Jesus Martin-Mejia, 3, from the babysitter's home at Las Colinas Apartments, 861 Franklin Road at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday, detectives said in a press release.

Hours later, officers say she dropped off Michael at a playground, and called a relative to pick up the boy.

Police are still looking for Martin, who has ties to Gwinnett County and may be in the area.

Martin has reddish hair, a tattoo on her neck, is 5' 3" tall and weighs 147 pounds.
