Judge Delays Bond Decision For Man Accused Of Holding Family Hostage For 3 Years

A Georgia judge has delayed a bond decision for the man accused of holding his family hostage for three years.

Police said Raymond Daniel Thurmond would not allow his children or wife to leave their mobile home in Lavonia.

  • Officers said they found the home filled with roaches, spoiled food and moldy mattresses. Police said the woman and children had been allowed to leave just once since moving to the mobile home park in 2005. A 14-year-old once attended first grade but the other children -- 13, 12 and 9 -- had never been to school.
