The Secret Service said a clerk at an Athens liquor store stole credit card information from customers and turned it into a lavish lifestyle.

Officials arrested Vikas Yadav and an alleged partner in what they believe was at least a 3-state crime operation. Authorities said they arrested Yadav at his lavish home with a Hummer, a BMW, a Mercedes and an Escalade in the garage.

When customers made a purchase at Perry's Liquor Store on Lexington Road, they didn't know that someone had secretly installed an extra card reader at the cash register. The reader recorded all the information on the black stripe on customers' cards.

"Probably about three or four weeks later, I got a card which declined and once I checked my online banking I got $2,500 worth of stuff had been charged in Alabama and Kentucky," said victim Bryant Watts.

As credit card fraud cases poured in, detectives realized all the victims had shopped at Perry's. The Secret Service arrested Yadav, an employee of the store, for credit card fraud.

Yadav lived in a spacious house in an equestrian subdivision outside Athens with his neighbor's horses out in the back. When investigators searched the house, they found 140 items, including 36 televisions in original sealed boxes, 13 Nintendo WIIs in sealed boxes, Garmin GPS units, 50 copies of Windows Vista software and more.

"My credit card just showed a bunch of $250 purchases, like some money orders or something and then two or three of them were for $300," said Watts.

Police said they also seized store gift cards from Yadav's home.

When the Secret Service arrested Yadav, they reported they found the equipment with him to make credit cards and put banking information onto their magnetic strips.

Officials said it is safe to shop at Perry's now. Police have removed the device that made copies of the credit card information.

Yadav got a Master's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia but, according to documents, he overstayed his Visa from India so now he also has immigration issues to deal with as well.
