Robbers Shoot, Kill Family's Dogs
Trio Charged With Animal Cruelty

CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS COUNTRY, Ga. -- Robbers shot and killed a family's two dogs during a burglary last week at a south Fulton County home."My dogs were murdered," said Louise Liles, the owner mourning the deaths of Miya, a 2-year-old Lab, and 6-year-old Ginger, a hound mix.Two men, Reshard Harris, 18, and Brandon Pettis, 20, along with a 16-year-old, have been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and burglary.

Police said the trio broke into the home of Liles and her husband, Richard Denby.One of the dogs was shot in the living room; the other killed with a shotgun blast while lying on her owner's bed.Denby believes he would have been killed if he had been home.SLIDESHOW: Family Photos Of The Dogs
"They let the police know that they were here to do whatever they had to do and anybody that got in their way they were going to take care of them," he explained.Police said the robbers left with a truck load of lawn equipment and computers. Before they could leave Chattahoochee Hills Country they were stopped for speeding and then arrested.Harris and Pettis are being held without bond in the Fulton County jail. The teen suspect was released to his parents.
