Police: Wife Shot, Killed Husband In Their Gwinnett Home

Gwinnett County police have charged a Lawrenceville woman with murder in the death of her husband.

Authorities said they responded to a "trouble unknown" call at about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of Amelia Grove Lane, an unincorporated area of Gwinnett County.

When officers arrived, they found Gary David Earls, 55, lying on the floor dead from an apparent gunshot wound. They said Gary Earls’ daughter discovered him dead and called 911.

  • Investigators said they spoke with potential witnesses and family members, and later named the victim’s wife, Evelyn Fields-Earls, 52, as their prime suspect. Authorities said a witness reported seeing Evelyn Earls leaving the home on foot shortly after the shooting.

    Authorities said a motive for the killing or circumstances surrounding the victim’s death are unknown.

    Evelyn Fields-Earls was questioned by police and charged with murder. She is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
