Passenger Found Dead In Delta Plane Restroom

Authorities Investigating Incident

A spokeswoman for Delta Air Lines said a woman’s body was found in the restroom of a plane which arrived in Atlanta at 5:51 a.m. Wednesday.

Delta Air Lines spokesperson Keyra Johnson confirmed the body of a 61-year-old female passenger was discovered in a restroom aboard the plane. She said the crew noticed the restroom was occupied on final approach.

Johnson said the Delta flight touched down at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on schedule.

Flight 950 arrived in Atlanta from Los Angeles, according to Delta’s website.

Johnson said authorities have been notified and met the plane at the gate. Johnson said the incident did not disrupt Delta flights operations. Authorities are on the scene investigating.

Johnson said she did not know if passengers were being detained for any reason.

It is unknown whether the woman’s body has been removed from the plane.

Delta Air Lines said it extends its condolences to the family of the victim.

The body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in suburban Atlanta for an autopsy later Wednesday, said GBI spokesman John Bankhead.

Authorities believe the woman died of natural causes.

Her name has not yet been released.
