Police: Woman Followed Home From Publix, Robbed

Thursday, July 24, 2008

Susan Stallings said she loaded her car with groceries at the Chastain Square Publix on Roswell Road and went home. She said she was completely unaware she had been followed.

“I just started screaming for help and my neighbors came out,” said Stallings.

The robbery happened around in the middle of the day, around noon, two weeks ago. Stallings said she had just returned to her gated Buckhead home with a trunk full of groceries from her neighborhood Publix. She said she felt something at her back and turned around to find a gunman standing in her garage.

“That’s when he showed me the gun and said, ‘Take off your watch,’” said Stallings.

She took off her Rolex watch, rings and other jewelry and the gunman forced her into her home. Stallings wasn’t hurt, and according to the police report, the gunman fled with $16,000 in jewelry and her ATM card, which he used moments later at the same Publix.

Neither the cameras at Publix or the ATM worked so police said they cannot ID the suspect.

Publix and the property management told Stallings they will repair the cameras. Police are warning everyone to be cautious.
