Metro Atlanta Magician, Youth Minister Charged With Child Molestation

Magician Lists Church As Employer

A youth minister and magician who claims he has performed at a long list of metro Atlanta schools was arrested Thursday and charged with child molestation.

Jeffrey Alan Wasley, 37, is accused of molesting a 7-year-old boy Monday in the men's restroom of the Target store at 740 Ernest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw.

The victim reported the incident to store security and identified Wasley.

Police arrested Wasley Thursday night at the home he shares with his wife and two children on Carrie Trace in Kennesaw. According to the police booking report Wasley works at Calvary Jesus Church. On the church's Web site he is listed as director of children's ministries.

Some neighbors said they do not believe the charges. "Based on what I know about the guy, yeah, he's a great guy and family man. Police didn't even know he was married, police didn't know he has kids, so that tells me they didn't do their homework as well as they should have to make the accusations that have been made," said one neighbor.

Wasley works as a magician under the name Magic Jeff. On his Web site, magicjeff.com, he claims he has performed at Six Flags, Cub Scout troops, Home Depot and a long list of local schools.

"We want anyone who has seen Mr. Wasley at a Target store, whether it was on Ernest Barrett Parkway or any location, if he was doing anything that looked suspicious to please contact us," said Cassie Reece with the Cobb County Police Department.

The Calvary Jesus Church did not have a comment. Wasley is being held in the Cobb County Jail on $30,000 bond.
