Galloway School Founder Dies After Running Peachtree

Elliott Galloway, the founder of Atlanta's Galloway School and the father of one of Atlanta's leading runners. died Saturday, one day after finishing his 39th Peachtree Road Race.

  • Elliott Galloway was 87 years old.

    His son, Jeff Galloway, won the first Peachtree and is the founder of the Phidippides running stores.

    The pair trained together for the Peachtree, but Jeff Galloway did not run the race. Instead, he attended the track and field Olympic trials in Oregon.

    Elliott Galloway founded the Galloway School in Buckhead in 1969.
