90 Degree Temperatures Will Have Atlanta Sweating

Posted: 5:48 am EDT June 5, 2008Updated: 6:04 am EDT June 5, 2008

Air conditioners will be working overtime in metro Atlanta Thursday and into the weekend.

Temperatures will climb into the 90s Thursday. Thanks to a high pressure area over the state things will get even hotter Friday and Saturday, hitting the upper 90s in part of east Georgia on Saturday.

"We are just going to get hotter as the days go along," said WSB-TV Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton.

The high pressure area will prevent any cool air or rain from reaching Georgia.

Adding to the misery factor will be a code orange smog alert issued Thursday.

That means the air quality is not good for people who have breathing and heart problems.

People are advised to limit their time outdoors to early in the morning.
