Police: Traffic Accident Led To Large Marijuana Discovery

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- Gwinnett County sheriff's deputies seized 208.5 pounds of marijuana and arrested a North Carolina man after he was involved in a traffic accident Wednesday night.Hernan Sanchez-Barrientos, 28, was charged with trafficking in marijuana after he allegedly struck another vehicle at the intersection of Singleton and Indian Trail roads. Gwinnett sheriff's deputies were serving warrants in the area when they passed the accident and stopped to work it.SLIDESHOW: Gwinnett Drug Bust
As Sanchez-Barrientos' vehicle was being prepared to be loaded onto a wrecker, he told officers he did not speak English and gave Sheriff's Cpl. Matt Warren his car keys. In the trunk of the vehicle, deputies found marijuana wrapped in 10 large bales.The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $950,000. Sanchez-Barrientos is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.The investigation is continuing and no further details are being released.
