Posted: 5:01 pm EDT May 21, 2008Updated: 6:52 pm EDT May 21, 2008

One man was injured in a crane elevator accident at a Buckhead construction site.

The incident happened at 1820 Peachtree Road at Palasade Drive in northeast Atlanta Wednesday afternoon.

Atlanta fire and rescue crews worked to free the man for more than an hour. The injured worker is in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Authorities said the man fell about 70 feet while he was on the elevator, which is much like a window-washing platform. The elevator crashed through the building, damaging concrete and exposing rebar along the sides.

The man's name has not yet been released. There is no word on what caused the platform to fall.
