Caught On Tape: Georgia Judge Arrested For DUI

Friday, May 16, 2008 – updated: 11:10 am EDT May 16, 2008

The Georgia State Patrol has released dash cam video of the arrest of a Chattooga County judge.

Police arrested Judge Carlton Vines for driving drunk and leaving the scene of an accident in November 2007. Authorities said they found bottles of alcohol in his car.

Vines pleaded guilty to DUI charges in April. He has since spent three nights in jail, paid fines, done community service and was on house arrest.

On the tape, Vines can be heard admitting he has had “over the limit.” At one point on the tape, an officer asks, "Do you remember the wreck you were involved in?" Vines can be heard responding, "I'm not going to admit or deny it but I will take responsibility."

Vines is a state court judge who presides over all traffic violations and DUIs in Chattooga County.
