A body found in the woods off Avery Estates Drive in Cherokee County Thursday has been identified as Michael Brian Benson.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office had been searching for the 31-year-old man, who had been missing since he left his north Forsyth County home on the morning of May 2.

Benson left his home on Country Walk Court around 8 a.m. on Friday, May 2 according to Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton. He left his house in a 2000 black Toyota Tundra truck that he was test-driving. After leaving his home, Benson spoke to several people by phone and was scheduled to arrive at a job site in Cherokee County later that morning. Benson never arrived, Paxton said.

Officials located the truck May 8, a half-mile away from where his body was found Thursday.
