An 8-year-old DeKalb County girl is recovering from being bitten by her neighbor’s dog.

Janiah Allen was playing outside when the Pit Bull/Rottweiler mix named Grizzly broke off his chain then charged and attacked her. Grizzly latched onto her legs, causing severe injuries.

  • “My little sister was lying on the floor and her legs were bleeding real bad. Blood was everywhere on her legs and she was saying she couldn’t feel her legs,” said Allen’s sister, Keshundra Carr.

Allen was taken to Children’s Healthcare at Egleston.

Police have charged the dog’s owner with having a dangerous dog, improper restraint, as well as not having a record of his dog's rabies shots. If found guilty when he goes to court on May 23, he could face a fine or jail time. He told Channel 2’s Eric Philips the neighborhood children have taunted his dog on several occasions.
