Falling Tree Kills Duluth Woman

DULUTH, Ga. -- The Gwinnett County Fire Department says the top of a tree snapped in gusty winds, fell and killed a woman walking at the entrance of an apartment complex Sunday afternoon. Captain Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the fire department, said the woman was dead at the scene when firefighters arrived at 4:47 p.m. He said the tree apparently snapped due to the high wind conditions, that were forecast to be as high as 30 mph.The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Astrid Hidalgo. The accident happened at the Chatelaine Park Apartments in Duluth.
