ATLANTA -- If you’re sick, hurt or burning enough to call 911 in north Buckhead, chances are the guys from Station 27 will come and save you.But neighbors say the Atlanta Fire Station on Northside Drive is falling apart and the city has no money to fix it.Allison Adair’s family lives across the street and said the Station 27 guys are great. “This fire station does a 5 o’clock story time once a week. They have birthday parties, scout meetings…so not only are they there for our safety but they’re also there for our community,” Adair said.If you look at the outside of the building, you’ll start to see the 52-year-old building is crumbling. Paint is peeling, window frames are rusting through and some doors and frames are rotting apart. The worst part? “You can see the exterior is probably the best asset the building has,” said Adair.A local architect called the inside “a slum.”
