Pollen fell like snow Thursday morning across metro Atlanta.

  • Pine pollen was so thick in some places it turned cars, decks and picnic tables a bright yellow.

"The skies are filled with pollen as we move into spring," explained WSB-TV Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton.

The good news is that most people are not allergic to pine pollen. "It's oak that causes the problems for most people," she explained.

So much pine pollen was falliing in Gwinnett County early Thursday morning WSB-TV photographer Edwin Jones captured it on camera looking like snow or heavy rain.

"We're going to wash some of that out of the air today," Minton promised. There's a 40 percent chance of rain through the afternoon.
