CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- A bizarre story has unfolded in Clayton County. Officers are investigating how a body ended up in a lake and why.

A man who lives at a home on Murray Lake Circle told Channel 2 he was asleep Thursday morning when a man kicked in his back door and as he fell into the house said, “I’m home, Mom.”

The resident said he woke up and said, ‘What are you doing?’ to the man he didn’t know. Then, he said, the man saw him, jumped up and ran out the back toward the lake.

By the time the resident got his pants on and went outside, he said, the man was in the lake and came up once treading water before going under and not coming up again.

A police officer that Channel 2’s Jeff Dore spoke with said the resident’s story seemed to check out.

The body has been removed from the lake by authorities. Police have not yet released the man’s name.
