Help Cabbagetown Tornado Relief

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Labor/Skills/Tools/Trucks:

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, those willing to help will meet at the Cabbagetown Community Center at 177 Estoria Street (which will serve as Headquarters) to assess needs on each affected street and break into teams to continue work. We can especially use people with tools that will help with tree chopping and removal (chainsaws, other saws, etc.), supplies to protect exposed homes (hammers, nails, tarps, plywood, 2 X 4's, etc). Please be sure to bring work gloves and wear comfortable clothes (consider long sleeves because of tree branches), closed-toe shoes and sunscreen.

Food/Water/Supplies:

If you would like to help keep the workers and victims fed and hydrated, you can bring groceries, food, drinks and/or any other items of comfort to 177 Estoria Street at the 10:00 meeting or anytime thereafter. If this is an inconvenient time for you, or if you would like to bring items earlier, please email me directly (maryhuysman@gmail.com) and we will arrange a time for drop off.

Financial Assistance:

Please make checks payable to Cabbagetown Initiative/Tornado Relief, and mail them to:

Cabbagetown Initiative
177 Estoria St
Atlanta GA 30316

The Initiative is organizing to ensure that all donations go straight to victims in need. Any amount is much appreciated. Cabbagetown Initiative is a 501 (c)(3) organization, and donations are tax deductible.

Spread the Word:

Please forward this e mail to individuals or groups who might be interested in helping. You can also link http://cabbagetown.com/ to any site. It has the same information.

Again, we appreciate your gifts of comfort and assistance.
