  • The winds that some residents insisted were tornadoes damaged 10-12 homes in the Brookmont subdivision in Douglasville. Homeowners reported chimneys toppled, trees down and garage doors smashed.

The outside walls of some homes in the neighborhood collapsed, leaving the interiors exposed and stunned homeowners picking through their scattered belongings.

"When I went outside I saw my back wall caved in," homeowner Hakeem Oshikoyo told WSB-TV Channel 2. He and his son were home when the high winds screamed through, but they were not injured.

The winds were so powerful they ripped several huge air conditioning units off the roof of a Kroger store on Chapel Hill Road in Douglasville. That store was still closed Saturday morning and police tape was stretched across the parking lot.
