Atlanta Couple Missing In Hilton Head

John and Elizabeth "Liz" Calvert, owners of Harbour Town Yacht Basin and Harbour Town Resorts in Hilton Head, S.C., have been reported missing after failing to show up at business meetings and work on Tuesday, March 4.

They were last seen together around 6:30 pm at Sea Pines Center in Hilton Head on Monday evening after leaving a business meeting.

  • Officials said their cell phones and blackberries have not been turned on since 6:00 p.m. Monday according to communications records. Their 2006 silver 320E Mercedes is also missing and has been registered on the national registry of missing vehicles. The car has a Georgia tag, GT821B.

    Detectives with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department in South Carolina are working on the case. Sheriff P.J. Tanner says the case is "raising eyebrows."

    Investigators have questioned family members, friends and business associates.

    Calvert owns the company that manages the Harbour Town Yacht Basin and Harbour Town Resorts, which includes 125 rental units on the island. His wife is an attorney with the law firm of Hunter Maclean.

    The Calverts are residents of Atlanta's Brookhaven neighborhood but while in Sea Pines reside on their boat, the "Yellow Jacket", in Harbour Town.

    Officials are asking anyone with information, or anyone who has seen or heard from them, to contact the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office at (843) 842-4111.
