WSB-TV EXCLUSIVE: Lisa Clark Plans To Reunite With Teen Husband

Posted: 6:38 pm EST February 25, 2008Updated: 7:21 pm EST February 26, 2008

The Georgia woman who served prison time after having a baby with her teenage groom may soon be reunited with him.

Lisa Clark was released from Metro State Prison on Friday. She served two years for helping her husband escape from a group home in DeKalb County.

Clark spoke exclusively to Channel 2's Tom Regan Monday.

Clark was 37 when she married her son's 15-year-old friend and later bore his child, a 2-year-old boy who now is with a foster family.

During the interview, Clark, who is now 39, broke down in tears as she spoke of her desire to gain custody of her 2-year-old son. She also said she'd like to reunite with her 17-year-old husband, who is now living in Houston, Texas. Clark said the plan is for him to move into the metro Atlanta area. She said she wants them to live separately for awhile but he wants them to move in together right away.

She said she was not guilty of raping her husband when he was a teenager even though she pleaded guilty to that charge. She said when she left prison Friday, she felt more of an appreciation for everything in life than she ever had before.

"I had a lot of time to do a lot of thinking about a lot of things and I really got to put things in perspective and I've got to see where my heart is and try to think logically too and try to look at things from a different point of view," said Clark. "I just want my child back. I love him more than anything. That's my son."

Clark married the teenager in November 2005. A retired county probate judge performed the ceremony in the driveway of his home. Authorities arrested Clark the next day on charges of sexually molesting a minor.

Clark spent nine months in jail in 2006 after pleading guilty to statutory rape. She was sentenced to two more years in prison after pleading guilty to aiding her teenage husband's flight out of state in February 2006.

Clark also told Channel 2 that she and her 17-year-old husband will make a good family and a good home for their 2-year-old son. Clark may be in for a fight for her child. Right now, neither Clark or her husband have custody. The couple that does have custody does not seem willing to give up the child.

Clark's attorney, Kim Dymecki, would not comment on whether Clark has tried to see her baby since she was released. She dictated a 191-page book while she was in prison called "Betrayed: The True Life Story of Lisa Lynette Clark." It was released in bookstores over the weekend.
