Posted: 7:25 am EST January 18, 2008Updated: 6:58 pm EST January 18, 2008

Police say they are releasing Deanthius Jamal Johnson and he will not be charged.

Johnson was initially arrested Thursday after tips were received from the public that he had discussed being present at the murder scene. After hearing about the tips to authorities, a family member turned Johnson into the DeKalb County Jail at approximately 4:00 a.m.

Following extensive research and investigation it was determined that this was not factual information and Johnson is in the process of being released, according to officials.

The news comes after police arrested an additional suspect Friday afternoon in connection with the slayings of two police officers who were gunned down during an apparent ambush as they worked as off-duty security guards at an apartment complex.

Officers arrested Mario O'Brian Westbrook, 31, who is also known by the name "Lil' Mario," Friday afternoon.

He was taken into custody several hours after the arrest of William Maurice Woodward, 26, also known as "Bo C." for the slayings. Both men have extensive arrrest records in DeKalb County.

Police officers 26-year-old Ricky Bryant Jr., 26, and Eric Barker, 33, were killed early Wednesday in a parking lot at the Glenwood Gardens apartment complex.

Police already have arrested another suspect, Herbie DeShawn Durham, 32, in the killing. He is charged with two counts of murder.

Officials set up a tip line for the case and urged anyone with information to call 404-298-8200. There is a $65,000 reward being offered.

Both slain officers were married fathers of four and were wearing their uniforms when they were shot.

Police have not released a motive for the killings.

The apartment owner said he hired the officers in December to prevent break-ins at the complex.
