Posted: 8:56 am EST January 15, 2008Updated: 12:23 pm EST January 15, 2008

The Indigo Girls are raising money for an animal charity in memory of murdered hiker Meredith Emerson.

The Atlanta-based duo is auctioning off a signed copy of the lyrics to their song "Power of Two" on eBay at ebay.com/Indigo-Girls-autographed-lyrics.

Band members Amy Ray and Emily Saliers said the proceeds from the auction will go to PAWS Atlanta, a no-kill animal shelter.

Emerson's lab-mix Ella was with her on a hike when she was abducted and killed.

Steve Segars, Emerson's boyfriend, has talked about how the two listened frequently to the Indigo Girls and particularly enjoyed "Power of Two."

By Tuesday morning the auction had garnered 52 bids and was up to $2,950.
