Giuliani Campaigns Again in Georgia

Sunday, December 2, 2007 – updated: 1:33 pm EST December 2, 2007

Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani visited GOP supporters Sunday afternoon at a campaign stop in Marietta.

The former New York City mayor visited several businesses in the historic downtown square and shook hands with supporters in Glover Park. He planned to speak later in the evening in Atlanta at a private fundraiser.

Giuliani came to Georgia after campaigning in New Hampshire, where he continued to focus on the economy and his record as New York mayor.

Recent pools indicated that in Georgia Giuliani would defeat either of the leading Democratic candidates, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton or Senator Barack Obama. However, his lead over Clinton is only about 4 percentage points, pollsters said.

Guiliani arrived in Georgia on the heels of an endorsement of one of his opponents by Georgia Right to Life. That organization gave its support to Arkansan Mike Huckabee. The Georgia group said in a statement that it believes Huckabee "is the pro-life movement's best hope in defeating pro-abortion candidate Rudy Giuliani."
