Police Rack Up Pool Cue Bandits

A woman is accused of trying to rob a Lilburn convenience store -- with a pool stick.

Officials said 20-year-old Deatrah Carman and a juvenile male walked up to the Shell Xpress Mart on Highway 78 just after midnight Monday dressed in all black and wearing masks. The clerk of the store saw the suspicious pair walking up to the entrance, locked all the doors and called police.

According to a police report, the two tried to get into the store through multiple entrances but the clerk refused to let them in.

Gwinnett County police officials said when they arrived on the scene they found Carman hiding behind the ice machine near the store entrance and the juvenile trying to get in through a side entrance.

Police said Carman attempted to flee but she was arrested in nearby woods. Two pool sticks were found nearby and police said the pair were planning to use them to rob the store.

Carman was arrested and charged with criminal attempt to commit a crime and wearing a mask to conceal identity. She remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

The juvenile was released to his uncle.
