Plane Hits Woman In The Head

Posted: 3:10 pm EST November 12, 2007

A Gainesville woman is said to be recovering today after being hit by a small plane.

The woman was hit by a 1977 Piper at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport Sunday. She’s been identified as 41-year-old Amy Dunahoo of Gainesville.

Police Lt. Brian Kelly said the plane was piloted by 72-year-old William Hohns of Acworth. "The pilot was attempting to take off from the taxiway and at that point the pedestrian stepped into the path of his plane." Kelly said.

Dunahoo was airlifted to North Fulton Hospital with a head injury. She is expected to be okay.

Kelly said it was the first time he’d seen a pedestrian/airplane accident.
