Local Coach Arrested On Sex Charge

The Whitewater High School football team practices as scheduled despite news spreading through the student body that their former assistant coach and world history teacher, Mr. Harry Heintz, is in jail.

The 29-year-old is facing a felony charge of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Students appear to be shocked. Stephen Weigand was in Heintz’s first period history class and said Heintz was his favorite teacher. “He seemed like the kind of adult that understood kids but wasn’t really the kind of person that would push for something like that,” said Weigand.

Weigand and the rest of Heintz’s students received a letter Wednesday telling them Heintz resigned Tuesday for personal reason. Thursday, detectives called him in for questioning and then arrested him. Investigators said Heintz sent a text message to a female student asking her to send him a nude picture of herself. The girl’s mother called police. Officials said they found the girl’s cell phone number during a search of Heintz’s property. Police are still investigating.

“We want to make sure that there are no other victims out there,” said Lt. Belinda McCastle with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Another letter will go out to students Friday informing them of Heintz’s arrest.
