Rapper "Da Brat" Arrested At Metro Atlanta Nightclub

Posted: 5:52 am EDT November 1, 2007Updated: 10:59 am EDT November 1, 2007

Rapper and reality TV celebrity Da Brat smashed a nightclub waitress in the face with a bottle Thursday morning at a DeKalb County nightclub, according to police.

Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, is facing felony aggravated assault charges.

Witnesses told police the incident started with an argument between Harris, 33, and a waitress at Studio 72, a club owned by Jermaine Dupri, the Atlanta record producer and rapper.

The argument escalated to shoving, witnesses said; then Harris is accused of grabbing a bottle of rum and hitting the waitress in the face. The victim was taken to the hospital with cuts on her face and above her eye.

Harris is being held at the DeKalb County jail.

As Da Brat, Harris's career as a rapper has been in a downturn. She hasn't released a CD since 2003's Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz. Her last appearance on the charts was in 2005 when she was featured, along with Bow Wow and Dupri, on Dem Franchize Boyz' "I Think They Like Me." That song hit number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart.

Harris has appeared in several TV game and reality shows. She was a contestant on The Weakest Link, where she made a quick exit.

She was also involved in two reality show feuds.

On The Surreal Life: Season 4 she faced off with the Go-Gos Jane Wiedlen.

Earlier this year she was a contestant on Celebrity Fit Club where she lost 26 pounds, but feuded with Saved by the Bell's Dustin Diamond.
