No Show: Vick Cancels Interview On Atlanta's KISS 104

Posted: 2:43 pm EDT August 27, 2007Updated: 2:18 pm EDT August 28, 2007

Michael Vick canceled a scheduled interview that was to be carried on the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show Tuesday morning.

He had planned to appear with Joyner to answer questions and take calls from viewers.

Joyner announced at the beginning of his show that Vick had canceled.

"He really wants to do it, but all of his advisors are advising him not to, because everyone is taking what he says out of context," said Joyner.

The radio host said Vick called him directly to cancel his appearance.

"Mike was very apologetic," said Joyner.

He hinted that Vick was concerned about the early hour for the interview. Joyner goes on the air at 6 a.m.

"He has a curfew. He has to be at the house by midnight."

Joyner said Vick told him that federal marshal's called Vick's house to make sure he was abiding by the curfew.

Joyner said Vick's handlers advised him not to do the interview.

"He has a hearing coming up for the sentencing and they don't want to jeopardize that," said Joyner.

"They would rather that he not say anything than mess that up."

Joyner says Vick promises he will be on the program at some point. In Joyner's words, "He will talk to black America. He knows where his support is coming from."

Joyner had planned to talk with Vick from a studio in Norfolk, Virginia.
