A Flowery Branch High School coach has been arrested on pornography charges.

Officials with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Shannon D. Mandeville, 34, was taken into custody Wednesday morning at Flowery Branch High School.

Mandeville has been charged with three felony counts of Violation of the Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Act of 2007 and one count of Obscene Internet Contact with a Minor.

Officials said the investigation began on July 26 and involved Mandeville allegedly having online sexually explicit chats with someone he believed to be a minor.

Mandeville has been employed with the Hall County School System since 2002. He taught British Literature and coached football and track for the high school. Mandeville has been suspended from teaching and coaching duties pending the outcome of the investigation.

Hall County School System spokesperson Gordon Higgins said the system has no information from police that links Mandeville’s alleged illegal activities to anyone at the school.

Mandeville was taken to the White County Detention Center where he remains awaiting a bond hearing.
