The one year old pit bull stabbed in the head with a hunting knife is looking for a new owner.

Officials at the Atlanta Humane Society said Friday they will probably put "Lucky" up for adoption next week.

The dog was brought to the facility Wednesday morning with the large buck knife sticking out of her head.

The owner of the pit bull said he woke up Wednesday and discovered the knife lodged in the pit bull’s head.

The dog was alert as it was prepped for surgery and even posed for pictures.

It took about 45 minutes to remove the knife that was about 3 ½ inches into her skull.

Workers at the Humane Society dubbed her "Lucky."

She is expected to make a full recovery.

The Humane Society of the U.S. and the AHS are offering a $3,500 reward for information on the attack on the dog.
