Animal activists have asked that Michael Vick be banned from ever owning pets.

  • READ: PETA's Letter
  • An official for PETA wrote a letter to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Gill asking that any plea agreement with Vick include a provision prohibiting Michael Vick from owning or harboring any animal in the future.

Martin Mersereau, manager of PETA's cruelty casework division, wrote that animal abusers often are repeat offenders.

"We see this time and time again," he wrote.

"By keeping animals from their hands, and off of their properties, your office is in the position to help ensure that Vick and his codefendants do not cause more harm than that which has already been alleged against them."

Mersureau also asked that animal investigators be given permission to search Vick's property.
