Plea Hearing For Vick Co-Defendant Delayed

RICHMOND -- The plea deal hearing for Purnell Peace, one of Michael Vick's co-defendants, has been delayed.Peace was supposed to enter a new plea on Thursday morning. WSBTV.com has learned that Peace and the other remaining co-defendant, 28-year-old Quanis Phillips of Atlanta, will now appear in federal court together on Friday at 9 a.m.Another of Vick's original co-defendants, Tony Taylor, pleaded guilty July 30 to taking part in a dogfighting conspiracy he said was financed by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback.As part of a plea agreement, Taylor pledged to fully cooperate with the government in its prosecution of Vick, Peace and Phillips.They are accused of running an interstate dogfighting enterprise known as "Bad Newz Kennels" on Vick's property in rural Surry County.Vick's reportedly is negotiating a plea deal with prosecutors.Sources said that prosecutors want Vick to serve some prison time; perhaps up to two years.For now, Vick's trial remains scheduled for November 26. The charges include conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and conspiring to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
