Vick Speaks Out During Radio Interview

Posted: 2:50 pm EDT July 30, 2007Updated: 7:00 pm EDT July 30, 2007

Michael Vick said Monday that he continues to keep a smile on his face, despite facing federal charges for dogfighting.

The Falcons quarterback talked to radio host Porsche Foxx during her show on WVEE-FM.

During the taped interview Foxx said she was not allowed to ask Vick any questions about his legal situation.

"I want to thank all my fans and all my support and all the people that's praying for Mick Vick," he said from Virginia.

"It's a crisis situation for me, but I'm going to get through it," he said of the indictment.

When Foxx told Vick that about 200 people rallied in his support outside the Georgia Dome on Sunday Vick replied, "It's hurting me not to be down there right now, cause I know that so many people want to see me and I want to be there."

Foxx then asked Vick if he would ever play again for the Falcons.

"Hopefully, under the right circumstances, I think it can work. I know I put the city through a lot, my owner, Arthur Blank, who I love, sincerely; I put him through a lot. It hurts me to put him through this situation," said Vick

"A lot of things would have to be worked out for him to put his faith and trust back in me. But if I had the opportunity, if it wouldn't be a problem, I'd like to come back, under the right circumstances."

It was Vick's first interview since he was indicted July 17 in Virginia on federal charges of sponsoring a dogfighting operation. Vick has pleaded not guilty. A co-defendant, Tony Taylor pleaded guilty Mondayto federal dogfighting conspiracy charges in a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Vick, Purnell Peace of Virginia Beach and Quanis Phillips of Atlanta face similar charges and are scheduled for trial November 26. They remain free without bond.

Vick called his legal troubles something sent by God "to help me ... get to the next part of my life. And you know, I'm just thankful for that, that I learned a lot from this situation. But at the same time you know, I know it's light at the end of the tunnel."

The 27-year-old Vick has pleaded not guilty to charges of sponsoring a dogfighting operation.
