ATLANTA, Ga. -- A neighborhood is working to rescue dying trees in Northeast Atlanta's Olmstead Park. With only one legal day to water volunteers headed to the park early Saturday morning equipped with garden hoses and buckets. They are trying to save the trees that are withering away under extreme drought conditions. The Administrator for the Olmstead Linear Park Alliance, George Ickes, says it could cost $1,000 to plant a replacement tree. Last year the group spent $30,000 on new bushes.Volunteers were only able to water until 10 o'clock Saturday morning.
