Snakes Chase Visitors From Park

Thursday, May 17, 2007 – updated: 6:14 pm EDT May 17, 2007

Indiana Jones would hate Woodstock's Springfield Park.

Jones, the fictional star of the Indiana Jones movie series, has a famous fear of snakes.

Springfield Park is crawling with them.

So many, city officials are considering closing down the park on Springfield Drive off Highway 92.

People have stopped going to the park that was opened in 2002 because of the snakes, according to city officials.

One city council member has proposed returning the park to passive green space and using money allocated for park maintenance on other city parks.

Others have called for the city to clear the park of snakes so humans can use it again.
