Band Director Sentenced For Sending Nude Pics To Student

A Henry County family says they are disappointed a former school band leader won’t serve jail time. He pleaded guilty to sending nude pictures of himself to a student.

A judge sentenced Marvin King to a year of probation and a $1,000 fine.

The former Eagle’s Landing Middle School band director admitted he sent the nude pictures to a then 15-year-old girl in 2005.

The girl’s father says Tuesday’s punishment was not harsh enough.

“I feel like the system has let us down. I also feel like because of Mr. King’s credentials in the county (he was) shown some partiality,” said Jeff Garner.

Garner said he is glad the case is closed so his family can move on.
