ATLANTA -- Seventeen students were rushed to the hospital in North Fulton County after students had trouble breathing.Officials still don’t know what caused an outbreak of troubled breathing and itchy skin at Blessed Trinity High School in Roswell, but it was enough to send students to 5 different hospitals.Newschopper 2 HD was over the scene as more than 800 students at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School filed into the track stadium after some students in a science class reported itching on their skin.“At that time, about two of the students said that their throats were also itching. And with concerns for any respiratory problems, the students were transported to the hospital,” said Pat Chivers with the Archdiocese of Atlanta.Seventeen students were transported to area hospitals to be checked out while seven students were contained on campus and had to change into Deacon suits while they were decontaminated.“They’re going in and taking a shower, discarding their clothes, their clothes will be contained in bags and discarded appropriately,” said Asst. Chief Paul Piccirilli with the Roswell Fire Department. As nervous parents waited, a HazMat team was called in to find the contaminant, which is proving to be a challenge.“That’s part of the problem. There isn’t anything that is obvious. That’s part of the reason they’re having a difficult time finding a source,” said Asst. Chief Piccirilli.
