There are two men behind bars in Cobb County after being arrested in connection with a deadly hit and run accident in Cobb County.

The victim was Loren Lily, an 18-year veteran of the Cobb County police department. He reportedly died at the scene of the accident.

Investigators say Officer Lily was on his way to work Sunday morning when a car driven by Joel Perea hit Lily's vehicle on Powder Springs Road.

Police say a passenger in Perea's car was Maurilio Herrea.

Both men reportedly ran from the scene after the accident.

But police have arrested and charged Perea with vehicular homicide and hit and run. Herrea faces charges for the false report of a crime.
