Pizza Deliveryman Makes No Apologies

Zahid Mahmood says he was afraid for his life when he was robbed by three teenagers inside the Huntingwood Pointe Apartment Complex off Campbellton Road last night – so he fired first.

One of the alleged robbers, 14-year-old Kenyatta Calhoun, was killed on the spot.

Now, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office will decide if it will press charges.

Atlanta Police say they have not yet been able to find the other two teens allegedly involved. The pizza deliveryman, Zahid Mahmood, says he only had a split second to make a life or death decision. And today, he believes he made the right one.

“He said if I would not hand over my cell phone he would shoot me,” explained Mahmood.

Mahmood said he had been robbed twice before in the 5 years he has worked for Super Crown Pizza. He also said he was once pistol whipped so badly he had to have stitches. Mahmood said after those experiences, he bought a gun and got a gun permit so he can carry his weapon with him when he goes out to deliver pizza.

Mahmood said three teenagers approached him and demanded his money and car keys, but when they demanded his cell phone – that’s when he feared for his life.

“I said, ‘Alright hold on a second, don’t shoot me I will give you my phone,’ So I acted like I was getting my cell phone but I immediately grabbed my gun and pointed and then I shot,” explained Mahmood.

Calhoun died at the scene. Mahmood was questioned at the scene and released. He makes no apologies for defending himself.

“The people who get robbed – their lives go on, and the people that commit crimes, they’re in bad shape. They never win. They never win,” said Mahmood.

Mahmood says while he’s been robbed twice people have attempted to rob him six other times.

Just four months ago, he says bandits stole his car, money and green card while he was making a delivery. But he says, he’ll be back at work tonight.
